A spring-loaded bunging valve is used to prevent tanks and vessels being over pressurized in the food, beverage, chemical & pharmaceutical industries. The valve body is made of stainless steel 304, with EPDM O-rings, and a polycarbonate cylinder air-lock housing. Glacier Tanks' bunging valves come with an adjustable nut to set the release pressure, which is usually set higher than the operating pressure and will open when pressure inside the tank/vessel exceeds this preset. Additionally, manual release is possible by pulling the spindle via the spherical top knob. Cleaning of the valve may become necessary if expunged debris interferes with the valve from seating fully to form an air tight seal.
The PRV should be installed in a vertical orientation and is designed to relieve gases only. After installation, please overpressure PRV to calibrate before first use. If any liquid product comes in contact with PRV during operation, a thorough cleaning will be required to maintain consistent pressure relief. After liquid has evaporated from the PRV after cleaning, repeat overpressure to properly calibrate the PRV for use.
