Buna gaskets & screens should be considered when handling oils and animal fats. Buna gaskets are made from a food grade, 3A approved material with good compression set characteristics, but have a limited temperature range (-30°F - 200°F) which precludes their use in many applications, primarily steam. Buna does not meet USP Class VI standards. It has a lower resistivity to general cleaning chemicals than EPDM or silicone. Gaskets and Seals are non-returnable per FDA regulation.

EPDM gaskets have a very good water and steam resistance, however they do not hold up well to animal fats, oil and most acids | Because of their polymer structure. EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is a USP Class VI material that meets FDA and 3A compliance, and operates | Best in a temperate range of (-30° - 300°F). EPDM has | Better resistivity to general cleaning chemicals than silicone. Gaskets and Seals are non-returnable per FDA regulation.

FKM is the short form for the fluoroelastomer category according to the American standard ASTM and is generally less expensive than its | Branded counterpart Viton®, however, FKM is not FDA approved. Both Viton® and FKM are made from the same fluoro rubber, and share the same high acid resistance and temperature range (-20°F - 400°F). Gaskets and Seals are non-returnable per FDA regulation.

We also carry Viton® Gaskets & Screens.

PTFE gaskets are the ideal choice for highly corrosive environments which do not include beer or wine. PTFE is a versatile material, similar to Teflon, with a broad range of resistivity to chemicals and temperatures (-100°F - 450°F), and virtually no extractables. PTFE is a plastic, however, and is subject to creep and cold flow. PTFE gaskets should be used almost exclusively with high pressure clamps and are not recommended where large temperature variations occur. Gaskets and Seals are non-returnable per FDA regulation.

Click here to go to "Silicone Gaskets"

Silicone gaskets offer an economical choice with a wide working temperature (-58°F - 400°F). They are a peroxide cured material that meets USP Class VI, FDA and 3A compliance. Silicone is almost an industry default and offers very low extractables (leaching characteristics). Gaskets and Seals are non-returnable per FDA regulation.

Click here to go to "Viton Gaskets & Screens"

Viton® gaskets and screens are FDA approved, meet USP Class VI and 3A compliance, provide high acid resistance and a versatile working temperature range (-20°F - 400°F). Viton® does not have a strong Base resistance and performs poorly when used with ketones. It is not recommended for continuous use in SIP procedures. Viton® is the registered trademark of DuPont Performance Elastomers. Mesh screens are made from stainless steel SS316. Gaskets and Seals are non-returnable per FDA regulation.

We also carry FKM Gaskets, non-FDA approved, that share many of Viton's® performance qualities at a lower cost.
