A grist hydrator, typically an accessory for brew kettle / mash tuns, sits atop the tank and is used to rapidly hydrate the milled malt and adjuncts, as they are fed into the tun and mixed with hot, or sometimes cold, water. A conical hopper can be attached to the top of the hydrator to help the feeding process.
Stainless steel conical hoppers, often paired with a grist hydrator, ease the loading of grain into a mash tun, or other brewing vessel.
Stainless steel sparge arms extend into a fermentation tank, like a mash tun with a rotating rake, via a Through Wall fitting. The perforated rows then allow hot or cold water to be sprayed ("sparged") onto the grain while it is being agitated to produce wort. The perforated screen or milled screen false bottom collects the water, leaving the grain, now called "wort" to be moved to a brew kettle for the next stage of the distilling process.
