Buna gaskets & screens should be considered when handling oils and animal fats. Buna gaskets are made from a food grade, 3A approved material with good compression set characteristics, but have a limited temperature range (-30°F - 200°F) which precludes their use in many applications, primarily steam. Buna does not meet USP Class VI standards. It has a lower resistivity to general cleaning chemicals than EPDM or silicone. Gaskets and Seals are non-returnable.
While we are prohibited from recommending a gasket type, we do offer a Chemical Resistance Chart (new window) that matches the resistance level of gasket materials to the different chemicals / food products you may be using. We may suggest using an A- or B-rated gasket for your particular application.
