Plate heat exchangers use metal plates to transfer heat between two fluids of opposing temperatures. The increased surface area facilitates the exchange of heat and greatly speeds the temperature exchange. In brewer's parlance, a wort chiller will knock down (cool) the wort being pumped between a brew kettle and fermentation tank to yeast pitching temperatures. They are typically more efficient than both immersion chillers and counter-flow designs, which reduces time and water consumption. Our heat exchangers use a two-stage, six-way flow process, commonly used with chilled water and glycol in temperature reduction.
